Alice in Wonderland!

Tim Burton is remaking Alice in Wonderland?! I think I’m more excited right now than I have been in a long time. Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen (I loved them together in Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street). Instead of being a total remake, they’re creating a sort-of sequel to the original Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. 10 years later, 17 year old Alice attends a party at a Victorian estate. She realizes she’s about to be proposed to, so she runs away, finding her way back to Wonderland via a certain white rabbit that’s been looking for her for years.

It’s kind of a mixture of some distorted live action and animation. I can’t relate it to anything because I’m not sure what to relate it to. It’s kind of new territory for me. -Tim Burton

I can’t wait to see how it turns out! The movie is due to hit theaters March 5, 2010. You will find me there, sporting 3D glasses.

New Moon Trailer

This trailer for New Moon (coming out in November 2009) is better than the entire first movie.

I’m excited. If you haven’t read the Twilight Series, I highly recommend it.

Paper Heart

I must see.

Turtles Can Fly

Turtles Can FlyI just watched this movie tonight. Besides being thoroughly impressed by the children who acted in it, I couldn’t really figure out what emotion to have throughout the film. It even had a slight humorous feel, although quite morbid and reflective. I totally expected to feel all angry towards America and want to “stop the war”, but instead realized this is reality, and we don’t always have control over situations. Even here in our very own country, we overlook people who are in as much desperation [relatively] as these kids are in Iraq. Just tonight, Katie and I bought ice cream for a little boy who was begging me for a dollar while his dad watched from the window. A CHILD, being brought up in the bay area [land of plenty] thinking he needs to beg strangers in order to eat? He has NO control over that. He’s basically doomed for a life of negativity and sadness. I pray to God that someone saves him from that lifestyle. Sad thing is, these people grow up to be the angry or socially awkward people with “issues” that we tend to push out of our lives. We blame them for not treating us right, when they didn’t ask for the hand they were dealt! They know nothing but to treat people the way they do because it’s how they were raised and the only example they were shown.

I sit around thinking I have it bad, worried about what people think of my weight and what clothes I’m wearing.
How dare I.

Flicks & Hunting

I’ve actually found some time to watch a couple movies.

Juno & Lars and the Real Girl

Juno: Loved it, bought the soundtrack, and I want to marry Paulie Bleeker.

Lars and the Real Girl: I thought this movie would help me get over Ryan Gosling since he has only a mustache, but it did the opposite – I only love him more. I really enjoyed this movie. It was so realistic, yet totally ridiculous and funny at the same time. I wish I knew Lars in real life.

Also, I’m hunting for a job. Spread the word!
