Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney ToddI suppose I just really like musicals. Despite the ridiculous gore (which I saw through the cracks of my fingers) this movie has made it to my top faves.

I love the way color was used as a symbol of happiness. Except, of course, red was a symbol of death. There was just enough comic relief as well, when they introduced the character played by Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). Only for one song in the whole musical did I want to plug my ears. That was when Johanna sang an octave higher than even Snow White. It truly was piercing.

For sure, I recommend seeing this movie. It’s worth the money. I will most definitely purchase it on DVD.

I’ll admit, when I walked back to my car, I checked my back seat for Sweeney Todd, 1. in fear that he’d cut my throat and 2. in hopes that he’d be there, because makeup only makes Johnny Depp better looking.

Live Simply

That’s what I’ve been striving for lately – simplicity. I just moved in to my new place and left behind half my stuff. It was amazing really. I had 2 living rooms FULL of stuff for sale. I made almost $800! Then I put “free” ads on craigslist for everything that didn’t sell and almost all of it was gone in 2 days. We only had to take one box and a chair to the dump. As they say, one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. That was so true in this case. People literally boxed up JUNK and took it home. How I accumulated so much stuff at the age of 23? I have no clue. But very recently something just clicked in my head…if I’m not using it, WHY do I need it?? I didn’t go to the extreme though. I kept some keepsake things and such. It just feels so nice to have space!

Now, I’m in the process of unpacking, organizing, and settling in. I just might have to post some pictures when I’m finished. I can’t wait for my first gathering. I love to entertain and have friends over. Maybe I’ll have a Christmas party, or have people over to celebrate my birthday in January. I’m happy. I needed a change.
